Working for peace through education :)

St. Vincent’s Academy

St. Vincent’s Academy is located in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, a coastal town 21 kilometers away from the industrial city of Iligan.

Assumption came to Kauswagan in June 1980, through the invitation of the Archbishop.  Since then, the Sisters have worked with the staff of St. Vincent’s Academy.

Muslims co-exist with Christians, but their relationship has been tense due to prejudice and deep seated mistrust for each other.

St. Vincent’s Academy was established with the mission to bridge the gap between the Muslims and Christians through education.

Today, St. Vincent’s Academy has deepened its response to the call of peace-building and peace-making in Kauswagan by integrating peace education in the curriculum.

Muslims and Christians are brought together through an educational process of brotherhood, mutual understanding, and trust.

Our contribution to St. Vincent’s Academy is a contribution for PEACE.

The library — most of the books are textbooks.

The computer room, where there aren’t enough computers per class.

The well kept campus of St. Vincent Academy.
